The Collection Strategy and Development Department oversees collection development and management; coordinates the gifts-in-kind program; and convenes DUL's Collections Coordinators Group. Our department aims to ensure an appropriate scope and caliber for the resources available to the Duke community while focusing on ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the scholarly information ecosystem. As Assistant University Librarian for Collection Strategy, Jeff manages the primary collections budgets, and provides leadership and vision related to Duke University Libraries (DUL) collections. Jeff is DUL’s primary collection development officer, and represents DUL and Duke in local, regional, national and international contexts including CRL, NERL, TRLN, the Ivy Plus Libraries Collection Development Group and HathiTrust.

Before coming to Duke, Jeff was Director of Edwin Ginn Library and Information Technology at The Fletcher School (Tufts University), and held various collections, library technology and public services positions at Ex Libris, Simmons College, Harvard University, DePaul University and Connecticut College. He has a BA in Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Cruz; and earned two Masters degrees (Library Science, and History and Philosophy of Science) at Indiana University.
